I am a freelance researcher, consultant, educator, and policy advisor with more than 12 years of experience in consulting, teaching, research, policy advisory, and advocacy working with government institutions, civil society organizations, research institutes, and universities. I focus on shrinking civic spaces, academic freedom, fieldwork safety, human rights, democratization, and authoritarianism.


In 2024 I joined the Centre for Fundamental Rights as a lecturer at the Hertie School of Governance. Teaching on fieldwork methods, human rights, and authoritarianism. For more check my profile on their website.


In 2023 I joined the Center for Applied Research in partnership with the Orient in Bonn (CARPO) as an associate fellow. Consulting a.o. the Federal German Ministry for Development Cooperation (BMZ) and the German International Cooperation Society (GIZ). For more check my profile on their website.

Since 2019 I worked with the Global Public Policy Institute (GPPi) team on projects related to Human Rights and Democracy. At the GPPi I co-developed the Academic Freedom Index (AFi) and consulted a.o. the German Federal Foreign Office. For more check my profile on their website.

Between 2018 and 2019 I worked for Amnesty International's German chapter as a Human Rights advocacy officer on the Middle East Desk in the Berlin office.

Between 2013 and 2021 I worked at the Berlin Social Science Center (WZB) as a research fellow in the Research Unit on Democracy and Democratization. At the WZB I edited the WZB's Democracy Blog and created the WZB Democracy Podcast, and managed the attached social media accounts.
